When Queen Elizabeth II passed away on 8 September 2022, the code name "London Bridge is Down" was activated. Stage and Screen had less than 48 hours to coordinate 200 media personnel's travel to London for four major TV networks from around the world, during a global pandemic with flight caps maxed and hotels in hibernation.

The COVID Challenge

While the plan for the Queen's passing had been carefully prepared and updated annually, COVID-19 introduced unprecedented obstacles no one had anticipated, with restrictions on movement of people and equipment, border complications, and accommodation shortages. Stage and Screen had to reassess and incorporate entirely new risk factors to ensure the plan's successful execution under these new constraints.

The global pandemic restrictions were still in effect, with flight capacity at absolute maximum. Most London hotels had closed their doors during COVID with only "the bravest of the brave" hotels still operating. Stage and Screen had four major international TV networks requiring coordination. Speed and order was paramount for timely, respectful news coverage.

The Outcome

Flawless execution. All 200 media personnel coordinated to London within 48 hours. Four major TV networks delivered timely, respectful coverage of a globally significant event. This is what happens when meticulous preparation meets unwavering composure under pressure.
