Tournament Rescheduled

When the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Australia was rescheduled due to the COVID pandemic, Stage and Screen was tasked with organising travel for over 2,200 passengers.

Client Snapshot

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is the international championship for Twenty20 cricket, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). National men’s teams from around the world compete, but the 2022 tournament was a bit different due to the COVID-19 virus.

The Challenge

Originally scheduled for 2020, the tournament was postponed due to COVID. All planning and logistics had to be completely revisited and re-contracted for 2022, including multiple contingencies based on:

  • Constantly changing border restrictions
  • State-based COVID mandates that varied by location
  • Borders opening and closing unpredictably
  • Evolving government requirements across seven Australian cities

The Scale

7 different cities hosted games. 187 flights were booked, plus one massive charter plane, with 2,243 passengers ferried around the country. There were 19 hotels across Australia, 20,181 room nights coordinated, and 97 vans and trucks organised for teams and officials.

The Outcome

One of the biggest cricket tournaments on the planet delivered flawlessly, despite being delayed 2 years and requiring complete re-planning during a global pandemic. When we said "game on," we meant it.
